Wind, Tides & Currents

A stormy day

Water motion can have a tremendous effect on the diver. In fact, the sea can be a hostile environment to a diver who is not prepared. With proper training and common sense the sport diver can deal with the minor problems of moving water and enjoy diving to its fullest.

After this course you will be able to:

  • Define the measurements of waves
  • Describe and perform proper surf entries and exits for the conditions
  • Describe and perform the proper techniques for dealing with currents while diving
  • Demonstrate how to incorporate tide tables and swell models into your diving plans
  • Plan and execute 2 open water dives in Monterey

Class schedule is subject to change.
