Dive the Wrecks of Monterey
September 9, 2006
Did
you know Monterey has two wrecks accessible from the shore?
On
Sept 9th, we will dive the sailboat and armored half track
at Del Monte Beach. Both these wrecks are in shallow water just
a moderate swim out from the beach. They are encrusted with
a diverse population of invertebrates. And you never know what
will come swimming out of the inside. If conditions are clear,
this is an excellent opportunity for macro
photography. If
you have a dive light, bring it along to peer inside the openings
in the wrecks. Note that diving inside of wrecks requires special
training and equipment and is not planned for these dives.
Del Monte Beach is located at Monterey Bay Park across from
the McDonalds on Del Monte Avenue before you go through the tunnel.
The parking lot requires quarters.
Call us at 650-591-5641 to
reserve your spot. We will meet at 8:30 AM, September 9th in
the parking lot. Please call Wallin's Dive Center to register.
You must have some cold-water diving experience for this dive.
Equipment is not included.
